Jerry Lee Lewis, equal in stature to the all time greats, Jimmie Rodgers, Al Jolson, and Hank Williams, and truly deserving of the title “Greatest Living American Song Stylist”, is long overdue for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The Ameripolitan Music Awards, a grassroots movement, has created this online petition to let the Country Music Association know that Jerry Lee Lewis has one of the most loyal fan bases of any country artist in history, and together we have the opportunity to influence the nominating committee and voting members of the CMA.
We are aware that Jerry Lee already has many advocates within the CMA and the Country Music Hall of Fame, and they need our help to make a strong case for his inclusion on the ballot.
Though he is one of the most successful recording artists of all time, having 54 albums and 77 singles (12 of them being #1), statistics alone cannot describe the unique contribution to country music by Jerry Lee Lewis. Beginning with his first single “Crazy Arms” in 1956, to his million seller “You Win Again” 1957, and through his string of classic country hits in the late 60s and 70s, Jerry Lee has defined and redefined what country music is,
We the undersigned, are concerned fans who urge the Country Music Association to include Jerry Lee Lewis on the ballot so he can be voted into the Country Music Hall of Fame as soon as possible.

As an Elvis fan, this song came to mind this weekend with all Lisa Marie is going through.
FOOL!
We are WITH YOU LISA! Be strong!
Fool, you didn’t have to hurt her
Fool, you didn’t have to lose her
Fool, you only had to love her
But now her love is gone
Fool, you could have made her want you
Fool, you could have made her love you
Fool, you only had to love her
But now her love is gone
Gone now the love and laughter
See yourself the morning after
Can’t you see her eyes are misty
As she said goodbye
Fool, you didn’t have to hurt her
Fool, you didn’t have to lose her
Fool, you only had to love her
But now your love is gone
Fool, you only had to love her
But now love is gone
Fool, you could have made her want you
Fool, you could have made her love you
Fool, you only had to love her
But now her love is gone
Fool, you didn’t have to hurt her
Fool, you didn’t have to lose her
Fool, you only had to love her
FOOL, FOOL, FOOL!
We love you, Lisa!

The reviews among Elvis fans are mixed for Sun Records, the new drama on CMT which premiered last night. Most LOVE it, Some don’t like it at all, and others want to give it a chance.
Myself, I LIKE it. Last night was an introduction to all the characters. I think the writers and producers did a fine job summing up all that early history in less than an hour!
I loved how they summed up Colonel Parker. It was PERFECT! I also liked the inclusion of Eddy Arnold. See, it’s THOSE DETAILS that make the difference! Very Cool!
Details like this take time and KNOWLEDGE! And that is something most TV shows and movies don’t have! Hats off to the writers! Very much appreciated, well at least by me!
I love when the Colonel tells the boy he can cover the Bob Wills posters, “Cause Bob is a friend of mine and he said it would be okay.” And then when Colonel goes in and sells the record store a hundred records and even gets the guy to pay the postage. So Colonel!
Let’s remember this is a DRAMA loosely based on the history of Sun Records. This is NOT a documentary! And this show has to appeal NOT JUST to US die hard fans, it also has to appeal to the general public, CMT’s audience.
There were two things that bothered me, first and most importantly, whether it is true or not, I did not like the portrayal of Elvis’ parents being drinkers especially Gladys hiding her bottle in the pots and pans. You know why? Well, Elvis fans know why. Elvis himself would NOT like that! He adored his Mama. There are already too many awful stereotypes of Elvis . I hate that people who do not know much about Elvis will carry those details as fact now. I just think it would be very hurtful to Elvis. And it does NOT add to the story of Sun Records in ANY WAY AT ALL!
BTW, when I saw the guy sitting by the grave talking, I got confused. I thought oh geez here we go AGAIN! And then I realized it was Johnny Cash. And I thought, Thank God it wasn’t Elvis AGAIN!
Secondly, I didn’t like the church scene when Elvis goes into the black church and the black women have to tell him to dance and he timidly gets up and dances (sort of). We all know Elvis Presley has been singing and dancing in church since he was a tiny boy with his parents.
I get changing a name or a song, but please don’t rewrite history.
I read a review yesterday that may have soured me a bit. It was pursuing the idea that Sam Phillips and Elvis Presley stole black music. I probably should not have read that before watching this. It really bothered me. And I thought, geez I hope they don’t make this show political! No apologies, just tell the story AS IT HAPPENED.
Sam Phillips, as well as Elvis Presley knew good music. They didn’t see color. They just heard good music. And yes, black musicians influenced Elvis. He often gave those artists credit. But Elvis was also influenced by many types of music including gospel music he heard in church with his parents as a tiny boy in Tupelo. Country music influenced him too. Elvis took many different things he heard in music and combined them. And depending on how you see things, the glass is either half full or half empty. All of those influences made Elvis incredible. I wonder sometimes if those that point out the fact that Elvis was influenced, or in their words, STOLE from black artists are not a bit one sided themselves. Whatever they say, we know Elvis had a style all his own and NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE has EVER duplicated it. Elvis Presley was one of a kind!
This show will expose the music to a new audience. Young and old, those who know a bit about it and some who know nothing about it. And if that means people go out buy a CD, take a trip to Graceland and explore Memphis, or become die hard fans like us, this show has been a success!
It will help keep the music going! And keep the legacy going in the next generation.
Some fans complained about the songs Elvis sang. I think known Elvis songs were used because the majority of the audience are NOT die hard fans so to start, they used well known songs.
Judging by where they went with other artists last night, I think music wise, this show will NOT DISAPPOINT!
Give it a chance. Folks, we are only getting started!
They have to reel them in at the start!
The guy playing Elvis is truly amazing! He has an innocence, boyish appeal just as Elvis had in those early years. I remember sitting in Alfred Wertheimer’s house here in NYC and talking about those early days before Elvis became ELVIS. This kid reminded me of that innocence Al and I discussed. This kid is darn good! He’s got it!
The Elvis kid gave me goose bumps!
He NAILS IT!
I was glad he didn’t overdo the voice, the lip or the hip shaking.
In fact, I love this whole cast. I read so many articles with them all. I love how they bonded in Memphis. I love their admiration and respect for the people they are portraying and the city of Memphis. Unlike that recent bomb of a movie about Elvis where the cast went on TV and laughed about Elvis. OK, OK I won’t go there!
I truly feel this show was written with the very best intentions toward the music and the history. This was a story that needed to be told and I am glad these folks are the ones doing it. This show reminds me a lot of the Elvis tv series with Michael St Gerard. It has that passion. But for now, it’s number two to the Elvis series. Let’s see if in the coming weeks, I change my mind.
The guy playing Dewey Phillips is AWESOME! And the guy playing Sam Phillips, I read an article in Rolling Stone with him, he is so passionate about Sam Phillips.
He really GETS Sam!
Aren’t we Elvis fans so lucky to have met Sam and heard all his stories all those years? We were blessed. I wish the younger fans had that.
I hope the writers get the chance to explore the story line about Sam Phillips starting the FIRST ALL FEMALE radio station and the backlash he received in Memphis for recording black artists.
I want everyone to know Sam did NOT steal the music, he was not a racist nor was Elvis. They loved the music. Sam took a HUGE chance and we have to THANK him for that.
Sam Phillips is the Godfather of Rock N Roll. If not for Sam, we would not have so many great artists. I want everyone to see his genius and know his heart was in the right place.
“Music ain’t got no color” Sam Phillips says in the show and I love that because that really is how Sam was and how he felt.
Let’s see where it goes. Remember this is NOT a real time documentary so some story lines have to be summed up quick. Don’t let the tiny details steer you away.
You can knit pick things like well, Elvis wasn’t driving a motorcycle then, dating a girl named Trixie, he didn’t sing that song at that time or that wasn’t Lauderdale Courts. That’s small stuff. At least Elvis isn’t made a fool of.
I’ll tell you what, I’ve had In The Jailhouse Now in my head all night and day! If that happens to one person in regards to Elvis or any Sun Records artist, I say WELL DONE!
I hope this brings new fans of all ages and all races to the music of Sun Records, Elvis Presley and Memphis. I hope they learn everything they can about Sam Phillips and Sun Records.
I hope they discover all the incredible music that comes out of Memphis still to this day by people of all different races. Memphis creates incredible musicians. Memphis is magical!
This show is ALL about the genius of Sam Phillips, the unique sound of Sun Records and the magic of Memphis!
If you made up your mind, this show is not for you, so be it. If you loved it or liked it, stick with it and tell others to give it a chance!
Let’s support it and get more episodes ordered on CMT.
We want others to experience the magic of Memphis music especially Sun Records and ELVIS PRESLEY!
Anyway, the way the cast talked about their characters proved one thing to me and the MOST IMPORTANT, this show was made with LOVE and PASSION! I love and respect that!
Check it out on demand if you missed the premiere. And be sure to check out episode 2 next Thursday on CMT @ 10 PM EST.
Here’s a few technical details I took note of:
Musicial Consultant – John Carter Cash, Promotional Consideration – Hal Lansky, Special Thanks – Lansky Brothers, Jack Soden, President and CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises. And Under permissions – Mike Volte – Scotty Moore’s magnatone Amp.
Why the hat and collar up and the red fox hanging from his belt? Attention seeker?
Who called the paparazzi?
Same people who sell one sided awful stories to certain web sites?
DCFS monitor was present, same one that was with Priscilla the other day.
I decided NOT to show the Dailymail’s video or pics with the girls. Look, this is their Dad and they love him no matter what. My heart just went out to them during this difficult time. I didn’t want to expose them anymore than they already are.
Note in the photos above, he STILL has his wedding ring on. And also note, he still acts like he is a rock star standing there with his coffee and allowing the woman to lug all the toys, scooters etc into the car, pick up stuff from the ground, I guess being in the “lifestyle he has became accustomed to” is beneath him. Nothing gentlemanly here, ladies! Swipe left!
The girls are staying with Nona, Priscilla Presley, while DCFS investigates the “pictures and disturbing videos” Lisa Marie says she found on Michael’s computer.
Sources say Lisa Marie and Michael both signed off on Priscilla taking temporary custody and also on Michael having monitored visits.
Lockwood met with his girls Wednesday at the beach in Malibu. Sources connected with the case tell TMZ, it was the second time he’d seen his daughters this week. We’re told a court-appointed monitor, seen here in red, was present both times.
He is having regular visits with their children even though they’re in protective custody but we’ve learned it’s a deal both parents struck. reports TMZ.
DailyMail reported that Lockwood lost his court bid to claim the $40,000 monthly stipend or a $100,000 lump sum. For the time being Elvis Presley’s granddaughters are in the care of their Nona, Priscilla, 71, with California’s Department of Children and Family Services constantly monitoring their well being. Both parents are allowed supervised visitation.
CMT’s premiere of Sun Records airs tonight right after Nashville.
The first episode is titled, “706 Union.”
Description:
Sam Phillips moves his family to Memphis to open a recording studio to look for his first hit musical act, but instead rekindles a steamy affair. Young Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash struggle at home.
Sun Records airs tonight on CMT at 10:02 PM EST.
The show is only scheduled for 8 episodes for now. From the interviews I have seen with the cast, they all seem to have a great appreciation for the music and the legends their characters are based on. They talk with great affection for the artists and the city of Memphis.
Tune in tonight and check it out for yourself!
Priscilla spent Tuesday out with Lisa’s girl, Finley and Harper for the first time since declaring they were under her care earlier in the week.
Priscilla or Nona as she likes to be called by the girls, treated them to glam care at Rossano Ferretti Hair Spa in Beverly Hills.
Priscilla emerges with her Mary Tyler Moore look, smart dress and perfect hair!
The girls came out JUST GORGEOUS as EVER!
Priscilla is a strong LADY!
This extra time with NONA is very good for the girls. Priscilla is a graceful, classy and strong lady.
You can see content on everyone’s face!
All is good in the Presley world! Praise God!
DailyMail reports Lisa Marie left court smiling as LA judge denies Deadwood’s demand for $40,000 a month in spousal support.
Score One for Lisa!
He could be a car salesman. He could be a music teacher. But he doesn’t seem to think he has an obligation to earn money, Lisa Marie’s lawyer told the judge.
Amen! He doesn’t really want to be known as Michael The Moocher, Does he?
While Lisa has provided very personal documents proving she is out of money, Lockwood claims she still receives $466,000 a month,$5.6 million a year from the trust Elvis set up for LISA MARIE Not THE MOOCHER!
And think about this, would Lisa REALLY want to expose all this if it was not true?
Lisa has been married four times TOTAL and NONE have gone down this road.
Lisa and Danny remained friends, raised their kids together. In fact, Danny was best man at Lisa and Deadwood’s marriage ceremony in 2006. This is very telling!
A Los Angeles judge denied her estranged husband, Michael Lockwood’s demand for $40,000 a month is spousal support.
At the hearing, the judge did award musician Lockwood’s attorney Jeff Sturman $10,000 a month in attorney fees pending a lengthy divorce proceeding.
Lisa should NOT have to pay this GROWN MAN who is of ABLE BODY TO WORK, NO!
She should NOT have to pay his legal fees. Stand up and ACT LIKE A MAN!
Of Deadwood’s demand for $40,000 a month support and $100,000 in attorney fees, Lisa’s lawyer accused him of ‘not looking for work.’ ‘He could be a car salesman. He could be a music teacher. But he doesn’t seem to think he has an obligation to earn money. ……And he hires a lawyer who has a $50,000 retainer.’
Living beyond HIS means! Feeling ENTITLED! Lisa’s lawyer is ON POINT!
LOVE THIS GUY!
Lockwood’s attorney, Jeff Sturman, countered, claiming that Lisa Marie’s income is more than $5 million a year while his client has ‘no means to pay his living expenses whatsoever. He has no income.’ Sturman added that after taxes, the $40,000 a month Lockwood is seeking, ‘would be about $24,000 – which would be about enough to provide for his needs.’
Are you kidding me? You are a MAN! Take a job at Home Depot or Ralph’s. PLEASE!
What an INSULT! He can not survive on 24 grand a year! Average people making minimum wage survive on less! Who does he think he is?
Deadwood’s lawyer pleas for money for his broke client didn’t move the Judge who repeated:
‘First we need to resolve the validity of the post-nuptial agreement.’ But he refused to grant Lockwood’s plea for spousal support. The Judge said he wouldn’t consider issues like support and custody until after the couples disputed post-nuptial agreement is sorted out. ‘The issue of the validity of the post-nuptial agreement needs to be resolved quickly,’ said the judge who scheduled an April 10 hearing to consider that matter.
That post-nuptial agreement signed in 2007 states that neither party should have a claim on the other if the marriage broke up. But Deadwood is demanding that the prenup should be torn up, saying he was coerced into signing it.
He signed this TEN YEARS AGO. And ONLY NOW he takes issue with it?
Let’s not forget Lisa found out he was allegedly spending over a million dollars of her money behind her back and even after she confronted him, he allegedly continued to do it.
So how was he fearful or bullied into signing anything?
This is BS and the post nup should be enforced. Ten YEARS later, you call foul? No way!
Her attorney told the court that Lisa Marie is ‘buried in debt,’ and among a ‘laundry list’ of debts, ‘she owes over $1 million in taxes for 2015 alone.’ Gross listed over $17,000 monthly expenses that Lisa Marie claims for her children’s day to day care. He said that a house she owned in U.K. was ‘upside down’ in debt and that Lisa Marie ‘has no assets.
Deadwood claims he needs the money to pay his legal fees as it is the only way he would be able to afford to ‘protect his rights against a very wealthy and vindictive person’ like Lisa Marie.
Deadwood’s attorney said her tax returns showed that from 2013-2015, she also got more than $4.5 million a year in dividends and capital gains and she receives way more than the $100,000 a month that she claims. He said in the same three-year period he earned an average of just $55 grand less than one percent’ of her income.
Hey, that’s his problem! And his claims LISA FORCED HIM NOT TO WORK! Come On!
Little Lisa Marie blocked the door and would not LET him go to work! PLEASE! Be a MAN, Pull up your pants and say, I will NOT be controlled or KEPT, I am a MAN, I am going to work. So instead he was so scared of Little Lisa, he stayed home, did not work and allegedly spent HER money behind her back. Then after he was caught, He continued spending behind her back? Does that sound like a scared man?
Lisa said Deadwood and a business manager had defrauded her of millions of dollars and she now owes $7.3 million in back taxes and has another $655,000 of other debt, including $212,000 owed on credit cards.
The judge said Wednesday Lisa must pay $50,000 to cover her Deadwood’s legal fees over a course of five months, until a trial takes place to determine the validity of a post-nuptial agreement they signed in 2007 a year after their wedding which details divorce terms.
Lockwood showed up to court with bleached blonde hair down to his chin and a gray suit and tie.
He sat at the same table with Lisa Marie, while his lawyer argued that the 49-year-old singer had declined to acknowledge all of her income.
“There is a big pool of assets that have not been discussed. Respondent has no assets and petitioner has hidden assets that has given her this income,”
Sturman further alleged that Presley makes about five and a half million dollars a year, and questioned the amount of debt she was claiming to have.
The next hearing is set for April 10, and if the case goes to trial, that will be scheduled for a time in May or June.
Lisa Marie’s lawyer threw down the gauntlet, telling Deadwood the gravy train has left the station and he needs to get himself a job.
I LOVE IT!
The former couple was fighting over technical stuff, but at one point Lisa Marie’s lawyer, Mark Gross, addressed Michael’s demand for $40k a month in spousal support.
Gross said the time has come for Michael to apply for jobs like working in a guitar shop or giving music lessons.
Say it Again!
Lockwood “has no money with which to live,” Sturman argued. Leaving him without money from Presley “just leaves Mr. Lockwood in this continuing state of poverty.”
How DISGRACEFUL! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! Elvis Presley, himself grew up in poverty. His parents WORKED hard and Elvis worked hard to make his family and friends lives easier. Elvis was humble and NEVER lived beyond his means. This fool here should be ashamed of himself!
I’m sure many families STRUGGLING in America right now would not feel Deadwood was living in poverty. Especially our Vets.
Have you no shame?
I am embarrassed for you!
In court, while seated at the same table, the couple did not appear to speak to each other.
There will be a separate and expedited trial about whether the post-nuptial agreement is valid. The Court retained jurisdiction to make the spousal support order retroactive.
That means that if the Court determines at a trial that will probably take place in three or four months that the post-nuptial agreement is not valid, it can order Ms. Presley to pay spousal support retroactively to today, and possibly earlier.
On the other hand, if the Court determines that the post-nuptial agreement is valid, Mr. Lockwood probably will not receive spousal support.”
